                                ACTIVITIES FOR ALL e Sailing Center, on the water at Demens Landing, is a marvelous facility and is the hub of the Club’s sailing activity. Over  fty Club- owned boats are housed at the Sailing Center and are available for use by SPYC members. e “Salty Sisters” women’s sailing group is believed to be the  rst organized group of lady sailors in the country, being formed in 1951.  e Salty Sisters compete in both inter-club and intra-club races.Socially, the Club regularly o ers activities for members and their families, particularly around major holidays, such as Christmas, Easter, Fourth of July and Halloween. Our goal is for all ages to  nd enjoyment in the Club’s events and to create family memories that will last a lifetime.Individual member interests are organized and developed with “Clubs within the Club.” SPYC Members coordinate all kinds of special interest groups such as: Music Club,  e Intermediates, a group of individuals ages 21 - 35 who organize fun- lled events to energize the younger generation, SPYC Singles, Bridge & Duplicate Bridge Players, Golf Club, Flying Club, Amateur Radio Club, Women’s Beach Club, and numerous other special interest groups.SOCIAL EVENTS e Tampa Bay social scene would simply not be complete without the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. Major events, such as the New Year’s Eve Gala and the Commodore’s Ball are highlights of the social season. More casual themed events are held regularly, such as the monthly Birthday Bash, Family Night, Trivia Night, and so many more. e Wine Society and quarterly gourmet wine dinners are also very popular in addition to frequently organized excursions to concerts, theatre events and professional sporting events.  e Club prides itself on creating an environment that fosters social activities for all members and many di erent interests.
